Tuesday evening, MexArt students were given a special treat when Lothar Muller, the owner of Kunsthaus Gallery, opened the gallery expecially for our students. Kunsthaus is the coolest, most avant-garde gallery in town. Lothar spoke about conceptual art and gave a tour of his gallery/home. Students were pretty impressed with his rooftop cactus garden that has stunning views of the mountains that surround San Miguel. Two artists that Lother represents also were on hand to talk about their work. Oscar, a young German, constructs sculptures that are organic, often looking like nests. Amber, a young American woman, spoke about her work that is constructed of sugar. Amber also spoke a little about how she ended up living in San Miguel and what it is like to live here. |
